From the recording <To Pembury / To The Wells>
A straightforward break-up song in the style of a Sinatra standard. The protagonist loves his girl -- and she him -- but nevertheless the relationship appears impossible and doomed. This song captures the moment that realisation becomes absolute.
Joe wrote the tune, and he and I wrote the words together at his house in Swansea, in March 2019.
